The Collingwood Croquet Club is a non-profit Association. We are a member of Croquet Canada. The Collingwood Croquet Club was formed by a number of residents living in the Greater Collingwood Area, with the common interest of establishing this sport as a social, pleasure and competitive activity.
The Collingwood Croquet Club (CCC) uses the Club House and beautiful lawns of the Collingwood Lawn and Bowling Club located in Central Park, behind the YMCA at 45 Paterson Street, Collingwood.
Our lawn measures 125' x 125', allowing for 1 full size court, plus practice area or two 2/3rd courts or 4 social courts.
The Club House is well equipped and is ideal for club, social and tournament events.
The 2024 season opened mid-May.
Croquet is a sport which relies on strategy not strength: it can be played on equal terms by male and female and by people of any age. Croquet is played on grass lawns, on which there are 6 hoops and a central peg. The game is played by two teams, which can be singles or doubles. Each team has two balls. The aim of the game is for one team to hit their balls through all the hoops and hit the centre peg before the other team.
Golf Croquet: is a simpler form of the game. It is suitable for when you have limited time. This game tends to be shorter and the tactics and rules are straight forward. Link to Golf Croquet Rules
2-Shot Croquet: This game follows the rules of Golf Croquet, however, your team's turn is rewarded with an extra shot for hitting another ball. Once shot taken, there is no further continuation of the turn.
American Six Wicket Croquet involves getting extra turns in reward for hitting another ball or running a hoop. This provides for a richness of tactics and a wide variety of types of shots to play. Good players can make breaks, as in snooker, hitting a ball through many hoops in one turn.
